Countdown to Spore Marathon

Have another 6 days before the Big Race- 42.195km in Singapore this Sunday 3/12.
At Leow's wedding dinner on Saturday, just quietly satisfied with a glass of beer not because of cannot drink but worried cannot wake up the next morning to run with
Peter, Lee, Albert, and to welcome Tay (PACM member in klang) his 1st time joining us.
Tapered???? never understood this term, said Lee.
Anyway, Peter, Lee and Tay went for the 21km whereas i decide a short one of 15km.
Due to some road repair , completed probably 14kms.

Yesterday evening ( countdown 7 days )- done a 5km run around my house.
Today ( countdown 6 days ) - if weather is good , will train at the batu caves.

Any advice ? from experienced runners what is " TAPERING ". how effective ?

Comments:
do not taper. daily go for yr 3-4km slow run. dun let yr muscle get lazy

Captain. No need to taper for you. Taper is only for those who log very high mileage per week. Then they gradually reduce the last 3 weeks. The third week before the marathon should be the highest mileage actually. So we should build up and peak mileage towards 3 weeks before the race and then taper the last 3 weeks with gradual reduction of mileage of about 15% per week. This will result in you being in peak form on race day.

Anyway all the best to you this Sunday and just remember to start in front. Thats the best thing you can do for yourself now. You have done your best in training considering your busy schedule so just go out there and give it your best. Cheers and good luck! May your mind win over your body!

Captim:

One main thing for you...just continue and run if u can..don stop too much or think negative to much when after 30km,ok ?

Hope u can get u best there and enjoy.
