Putrajaya

In Putrajaya, it was my first time running as i have been shunning away cos' everybody said the heat was unbearable and the waterstation is not enough.

Determined, i took part in the 21km .WEll , that morning the weather was good until 9.00 when the sun hit at yr face near the Justice Palace.
Water station and sponging was located 2km apart , a necessity for me.

Along the way, i was dissappointed that we did not run thru all the bridges as i brought along my kodak camera which is big and clumsy to capture them. However, there was this senior who was still in the Merdeka mood !

Result full marathon: Leow 3hr34m, Peter 4hr13m, Lee 5hr20m.
21km : Albert 2hr 04m, Ms Leong 2hr28m, myself: 2hr 35m.
10km : Ms.Chi 1hr04m.

Next run shall be the Mizuno, Bidor and KRI cross country in november.

More on Mt.KK, Sabah.

Hi,

For those who wish to climb Mt.KK and but alot of worries just like me , i wish to share my experience especially to compare my mistakes made in my failed climb in 2003.

Climb : 14th august, 2006.
Members : 9 , with 2 porters and 2 guide.
Attempt : 2nd attempt.
Porter : I hired porter to carry my backpack, of course, this is to reserve my energy for the ascent fr Laban Rata.

Route : As before, we use the Mersilau gate, wonderful sights-highly recommended.
I was told that it is 2km longer and 1800m higher compare to Timpohon gate.
Clothing : Light clothing.
Ascent fr Laban Rata : I failed that 1st time due to over-clothing ! Longjohn-for top and pants., wearing skid mask, headlamp that never tested together with the skid mask making it tighter over my head, and nobody advise me on " anti-fog spray " as I am the only one in the group empat mata! lah.

This time : I bought 0-degree jacket( cheap sale 120.00 ), track bottom and inside just a tight pant and t-shirt will do. This time, some "empat mata" remember the anti-fog, a necessicity for our spectacles.

Torchlights( led ): I had 2 , one over the wrist ( it is actually the headlamp ) and another over my neck. These china-made ones are better than the conventional type.
( normaly batteries burn fast and the torchlight bulb fused easily )

In Laban Rata: While sleeping in our room, Chak, our member decided to leave the room door ajar to allow the air to come in. Our last trip, i felt so difficult to sleep on the upper bunker...hot air fr heater remain around the ceiling ! choking.
It really helps alot as the cold air freshes the room.

Climb - take yr time. I told myself that i must make this time and took all the time to breath in slowly..amd surely ...reach the peak !!!!!!!!!!!

The weather was excellent- no strong gust of wind, everything was calm, serene, no rain, everything was Perfect. My 1st attempt, the wind thundered like the waves hitting the rocks..so..do you think it is strong..YES... Lucky for my friends their 1st attempt was great.

Mistakes made: I keep walking ahead and i was separated from others though the guide have sights on us. My mistake was that,,,i did not carry anything > what happen when it rain ? I leave my rain coat with my friend and i couldnt see him in the dark. I too was as desperate as to reach the peak to watch the sunrise.

Had it rain...it is will be a nightmare/morning mare ( is there such a word? ) .
It is 5 degree and this is disaster for me !

Water: a small bottle. I did not feel thirsty at all.

Sights : most beautiful mountain !!! peaceful , quiteness, majestic, and when compare to the hugh mountain, you so small...really small. The clouds was below you and YES, I did it ! am standing on the Highest mountain in SEA.

GOOD LUCK.... Team 2008 has been formed by new leader: Peter Goh.
