Countdown to Spore Marathon

Have another 6 days before the Big Race- 42.195km in Singapore this Sunday 3/12.
At Leow's wedding dinner on Saturday, just quietly satisfied with a glass of beer not because of cannot drink but worried cannot wake up the next morning to run with
Peter, Lee, Albert, and to welcome Tay (PACM member in klang) his 1st time joining us.
Tapered???? never understood this term, said Lee.
Anyway, Peter, Lee and Tay went for the 21km whereas i decide a short one of 15km.
Due to some road repair , completed probably 14kms.

Yesterday evening ( countdown 7 days )- done a 5km run around my house.
Today ( countdown 6 days ) - if weather is good , will train at the batu caves.

Any advice ? from experienced runners what is " TAPERING ". how effective ?

33km Training

Arrived at 5.00am at Bukit Aman car park for the 30km run.
Members were coming in one by one, after talking to them, then I realised the starting time was 5.30 am instead of 5.00 am ! waking up at 4.15am , taking a cup of milo and rush from home to be on time is Pure Discipline .....but not to work.,haha.

At 5.05, I saw Richard started off his run, a little later, by Jimmy.
With a " kiasu " feeling, and also felt frustrated that I didnt remember the starting time, decided with Kevin ( Pan Pacific hotel ) to ran out at 5.15am.
He too, also probably feel better to be ahead.

It was just the 2 of us running for 30 mins then , we realised that we were lost when we almost reach another highway. For 20mins diversion, i think it is ard 3km extra. We followed the street lights instead of turning into the darkness at the 2nd junction.

It was a good run without any cramps, or sufferings as the weather was damned cool.
Finished the run in 4hr 09 mins ( 33 kms ). Feeling high as I covered 10% more than originally planned.

The good thing of running at Bukit Aman is that there are so many runners. The support team from the club is excellent giving free power bar, water, watermelon and bananas !

I hope to convince my group , to run here every 1st sunday of each month.

Countdown : 2 sundays from Spore Standard Chartered Marathon !!!!

Bidor Half Marathon

I always looking forward to Bidor Run.
This time, Dinesh suggested to put a night there compared to previous runs of 10km where we used to drive very early in the morning.
As usual, i am all for it as I like to try the food there., mostly important for Dinesh is a good survey of the route to achieve his sub-2 hr for Half Marathon.
Dinesh , Lee, my nephew and myself survey the route and from look of Dinesh face, he is not going to do a sub-2 as he read 22 km on car meter.

Bidor run always remind me of the " Community work of the elders " , the committee are hardworking , filling up potholes , putting up the START/FINISH STAND all by themselves.
The event is backed up by Gerakan party, but , there was no manifesto here.

Well, I had a good run , using some markers which Dinesh worked out earlier.
It is useful especially the last 3km when the sun heat the morning temperature , i imagine that the suffering was a short one and finished in 2hr 26min.

Mak Koh ( bruuther Mak ) , has rented his corner house for RM 200.oo and we liked it better that staying at the town hotel. It was a blessing in disguise that there were no more rooms available.
we certainly will come back to Mak Koh house if there is another BIDOR RUN next year.

What happen to Dinesh ? Did Dinesh do a sub-2 ( 21km )
He completed in 2hr 03 min ( position : 42 ).
Yes, if you take into consideration that the whole distance is 22km.
Somewhow, my friend cannot record in officially.........what to do,....run another one lah !

Next sunday : we will have IOI Puchong and Pacesetters 30km run ( additional training for singapore full marathon.
