Well came Sunday 14th , me, Alberet, Peter, Captain, Ms Chi, Chuck, n Lee decided to do some strength training in Batu Caves. Good idea in the begining but when you at it, it is bad idea as it was so tough and dizzy. Ya, dizzy, that was what we got by getting up n down the stairs.

We met some PACM member doing some training there. But the best of all was the breakfast, See.. Captain Lim never fail when come to eat eat eat. You know, there is a popular fish porridge nearby. Slurp, slurp, slurp.

Anyone interested just let us know and when we plan to go again we will call you.

1221 Words from our Captain

My Brooks’ Experience !

It was on 11th March,2006 that I got a reply from Pres. Munning that I should organize a Breakfast Run in Klang and to be frank, I am overwhelmed though he hardly know how small was my group’s capability of organizing a run.

With excitement and his “advance“ approval, I decided to go with another member , Lee Foo Kien to meet him at bukit aman to discuss to organize the run.

On the particular morning ( 19/3 ) , Lee and myself join in the run , tagging along with ex-president Wan Yew Leong and 2 others from KL. From the start, Wan was talking about eating bah ku t’eh ( brewed pork rib , over Chinese tea ) , how nice it was and , we were speechless , nevertheless , we just says…..yeah…yeah…ok..ok. and I told Lee , never mind , don’t worry, we have a job to do………..LETS DO IT !

When we were back, we waited for Pres.Munning to come back from his run. We waited anxiously for him , we had breakfast and he delegated his trust to me to organize the run, to allow the Klang group to organize the run and leave him the responsibility of getting the other group area to take part.
I agreed...on one condition that he changed the date to 23/4 instead of 16/4 . ( I never organize a public event ).

A Delegated Responsibilty was handed over , and with this mandate, I summoned Peter, Albert Goh, together with Lee , scouted and map the entire route on that particular afternoon at 5.00pm ( less than 12 hrs of OFFICE ! )

The following week, I had to see Pres. Munning and I was given about 30 mins to explain my planning on this run, though, without knowing that there was this exco meeting on that evening. I hardly know anybody except Jenny, and Naidu but they all supported me in running the event, and I invite a few runners to run on the coming Sunday.

Poon , Liew and Ooi came despite heavy rain on that Sunday to join the run, their presence, let alone about their contributions has “Oomph“ the team,
I am very happy with this , and we had a good meal of bak kut teh then.

When Pres. Munning emailed to me to prepare for 400 runners, has shocked me as we expect to be 200 ,anyway I knew I had to re-adjust again especially the food. On the car park and the run, I am prepared, so that was not difficult.

I had to deal with the sponsors FFM Marketing ( for V-soy drink ) and Paragon Vest ( Brooks socks and lucky draw items ), something new , which I had to correspond thru emails, meeting their demands for tent, tables, chairs, car park space, etc….everything I am willing to sacrifice to pull this event thru !

Next to lend support was Francis Toh., whom, I had to collect a car load of signboards, wooden stands, etc etc… everything he has it !
With only 3 years in running, he has got this passion on event organizing, even to the extent of putting a night in the car park.

As the date was getting nearer, we had additional meeting and the sub-heads took over charge of the meetings such as Lee on road marshals, Ms.Chi turn up with her dedicated right hand ladies, and I just update the whole committee on the MPK approval, Brooks and V-soy sponsorship, RELA instead of police traffic ( this was also a last minute decision due to no reply from the Police )., Tents, expected no of runners.

The TEAM FORCE then escalated to more than a dozen attending meetings at my house. Here’s a few to record on their commitment and high enthusiasm that moulded the STRENTH of Klang Area Group.

Lee Foo Kien
Throughout the meeting, it was Lee Foo Kien high power voice that gets everybody attention because he was in-charge of Road marshals, so important that he concern to get all those involved had at least run the route. With as many as 4-5 runs , he gathers all involved to run the actual route so that we organize to provide Traffic safety, extra road marshals, to avoid getting lost especially in the jungle trail.
He is now involved with creating the Blogspot and we also got a email address ( be patient with us , we will get there )

Wong Kim Tham
He is another pacesetter whose voice could be heard before he actually appears, was greatly responsible to gather members from Bukit Rimau,Shah alam (Mr.OOn) to attend every meetings, and a few more volunteers during the BIG Day ! Their numbers adds value the Marshal team. Of course, his criticism contributed additional safety measures in road signs.

Peter , Albert Goh.
They are responsible to map the route, getting all the members together to support this important event ., nevertheless, the pillars of advice to me where I may have left out some details in my several meetings. I always, shared my decisions as I believe that are no wrong decisions but bad decisions.

Peter was among those ( Francis Toh, Naidu and myself ) have stayed overnight to take care of the food, etc…..i slept at 3.00am and Naidu and Peter hanged out until 4.30am ( guess what the 2 guys, gays were doing…joking …lah )

Ms.Chi
An iportant task, she has gather all the member’s wifes and a few friends to formed the KITCHEN force. Manages the food distribution on the day, she purposely work out the coupons for drinks, nasi lemak, water just like what she used to with each run.

Ajeep.
Traffic control., co-ordinating with the runners .
With RELA , he has handled the safety well.

Gopou.
In charge of the lucky draw programme, brooks socks ,, and he has surprised me by making the Lucky draw box. ( it reallys enhance the event – drawing numbers from carton boxes looks cheap…)

Oon.
He leaves no mark behind ! Well, that’s what he done on that day.
He was the MAIN SWEEPER , with Albert and Geoginia , makes sure the runner comes back , making sure all the road marshals carried their Road Signboards with them. He’s the guy I called to finish the race.

Gan Geok Sod.
As the saying goes , no man is success without a women behind.
She’s my wife, in-charge of food selection: nasi lemak, mee, and she sponsored the kari puff. ( everybody says the curry puff was crispy and good, no wonder why she sponsored , also want ..kong loh… )
Thanks to her , she prepares all the food for my meetings., no food no meetings…..

The whole FORCE TEAM of 41 makes the whole event a success! For those who read this bulletin, and if your name are not here, thank you being part of Brooks Bond Run.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to Pres. Munning the opportunity, the sponsors : Paragon Vest and V-soy, and fellow pacesetters, family, friends who participated to make history for Pacesetter Klang Area Group in organizing the Brooks Bonding Run a SUCCESS !!!!!
